Our History

Helping Hand Grief Support (HHGS) was founded by George and Wanda Stein in 1992 after experiencing the loss of John, their only child. Originally the group was established to help parents in the Cherry Hill area who had also lost a child. Fellowship Alliance Chapel (FAC) located in Medford NJ invited George and Wanda to add HHGS as a support group within FAC. HHGS expanded to help individuals who are grieving due to the loss of a spouse, the loss of a parent, the loss of someone by way of suicide, or other similar loss.

Participants attend an educational component presented by George Stein, or Dr. Dennis Borg, during the first segment of the meeting. Later, the same evening a support component is available where individuals meet in separate rooms for group sessions, specific to the type of loss.
